I headed to the fourth VizThink Austin meeting last night. The forum for the evening was a "gallery walk". I was planning on showing some of my work both old and new. I brought enough printed images to break the back of any self-respecting camel. I didn't know what to expect; so, I brought more than one could need. The expectation was more on the lines of "what motivates your creativity", "what do you do to re-start when stuck in the non-creative rut", etc. I am very familiar with the stuck in a rut problem. It was interesting to think about what is my muse. Maybe, I went a bit too far on the "it's all about me" highway, but just the same, Lee K. Davis of KOOP asked if I might consider being interviewed on a radio show called Writing On The Air. Why not; photography is from the Greek words meaning "writing with light".
Other presenters included Austin Kleon who is about to have a book of poems published. It is a really far out type of poetry that works. He doesn't write the words, but he does use a Sharpie. Check it out on his web site. You can even enter a rather unique poetry contest. You won't need to write any words either.
These images were taken in New Orleans pre-Katrina. When I dug out these images for last night's gallery walk, it made me realize it is time for a road trip to the Big Easy.
