At Sea in the Southern Ocean
Several months ago, My wife and I had the good fortune to travel from Ushuaia to the Falklands (Islas Malvinas) to South Georgia Island to Antarctica returning to Ushuaia at the southern tip of Argentina. One of the things on our mid was the ferocity of the ocean during the 3 week trip. We had heard tales of rough seas, so rough that sometimes passengers might be confined to their cabins. We had some trepidation. Lets call it what it is, fear of being sea sick. We had very good conditions during the vast majority of our time onboard our ship. The following video may give you some feeling for the Southern Ocean that we experienced.
Our return to Ushuaia across the Drake Passage (Mar de Hoces) was so smooth that we were able to sail past the Cape Horn in southern Chile's Tierra del Fuego archipelago.
