Beautiful light
A few days ago, I noticed light coming through a kitchen window and striking the counter. I pulled a cutting board into the light and placed an orange on it. Then, I tried some bananas and apples. I chastised myself for not having more produce in the house. But by then, the late afternoon light had left the counter. In a few minutes, I had images of fruit taken in natural light on my computer. After putting a few finishing touches on them in Lightroom, I thought of the work of Edward Weston or Irving Penn. They really knew how to capitalize on naturally available light.
In our preparation to create images, too often, we only think of man made light. That's a pity. I'm beginning to seek out more of that natural light.
