¿Qué ha estado el escritor?

Okay, Where has the blogger been? We have been busy. Our good friends were visiting for five days, and we enrolled in an intensive Spanish class. Let me attempt to start to catch up, if you are interested.

In the previous post, we headed home when we discovered we could not enter the cathedral or the Alcazar with out baking in a very long queue. To avoid the line at the cathedral, we purchased a combo ticket to see the Iglesia del Salvador and the cathedral. We purchased them online and avoided the queue. The only reserved time we could get was at 16:15 (4:15 PM). With the religious experience reserved, we focused on the Alcazar. No reserved tickets were available. We opted to head to the Alcazar early and brave the crowd.

The queue was long, it turned at the far end and continued another 75 to 100 feet

We finally entered the Alcazar after about an hour or more wait in the queue. We did meet some interesting folks while we were waiting, but not interesting enough to include here.

The Alcázar of Seville or Reales Alcázares de Sevilla is a royal palace in Sevilla,  built for the Christian king Peter of Castile. It was built on the site of an Abbadid Muslim residential fortress partially destroyed after the Christian conquest of Sevilla. Many elements of the Moor structure are incorporated into this castle. The palace is a fine example of Mudéjar architecture.

More on the cathedral later.

PS: During our time in Sevilla, less than a week, the temperature has been 100°F or higher (max at 104°F). Just like back in Texas.
