Why Blogging?

Why try blogging, and why involve people I know? What’s a blog? A web log or blog is a journal of sorts; it’s a document shared via the web. Today, many blogs have evolved into political rants, expert information, or people and families trying to connect or stay connected. The possibilities are almost endless. Blogging is just one of many types of social networking opportunities sweeping the web, including sites like linkedin, My Space, Facebook, You Tube, Flickr, Picasa, etc.

I think that this is getting too geeky.

Actually, I really want to try out the idea that many people can be connected in a way that goes beyond postcards, emails, and phone calls. That’s why I’m trying this blog. If you care to take a peek (I guess you are doing that now), you can come and go as you choose. You can visit everyday or not at all. You can comment or not. Your input is totally yours to share or keep to yourself. Perhaps, that’s the value of this tool. Be yourself, no matter what that means.

If you follow along on this journey, you will be able to view our impressions of the people and places we visit. Yes, I will let Randeen add her comments. I will designate which are hers, the rest will be mine. We will add photos. At least, that’s the plan. If you hang around through the trip, I promise it will not be as weird as Dumb and Dumber. At least, that’s my hope! Our only constraint will be access to a wireless or wired connection and a hope that my computer does not fail us.

Note: If you delve into past entries in the blog, you will find a variety of entry types. In the beginning, it was aimed at photography and Photoshop. Later, it veered in another direction, but for the next few weeks it will be the trip blog.
