Meeting the Torviks - Last Parties and Farewells

Our quest to find and meet the Torvik relatives is almost complete. We had actually found Torvik on a map and at the end of the road leading out of Surnadalsora.

Most of the Iowa Torvik's and offspring point to Torvik. What's Karen doing in the photo? I told you it was on the map.

We went to visit Oddlaug. She is from the third branch of the Elin Marta tree. She has a great flower garden and is pretty darn good with root vegetables as well (pictured above).

While at Oddlaug's, Joe tried his hand at fjord fishing. He landed a small but nice bunch of seaweed (or is it fjord weed)

Our last family dinner was at the home of Birger and Torill Solem. They are from the second branch of the Elin Marta family tree. Their daughter Heidi and her child were there as were 2 additional grandchildren. We knew we had finally made it as cans of beer were placed on the table. We did have to chose designated drivers before beer tops started to pop.

I'm not sure if Randeen was contemplating the family tree or if she was ready to depart. I assumed the latter. We bid farewell to the Hammer Apartments (still cloaked in scaffolding) in Surnadalsora (below).

And, we drove to Tovik for one last look. Per Olaf was snacking in the pasture with Halvdan's house as a backdrop. I wonder if it really is Per Olaf, or will I need to change his/her name?
