Day #33 Hobart and MONA
I thought of another of the shortened words Australians use. It's brekky instead of breakfast. This one is super common.
Today was a MONA (Museum of Old and New Art) day.. We caught the 9AM ferry and spent the day returning on the 5PM ferry. MONA is the brain child of David Walsh. Walsh is a Tasmanian gambler, art collector, and businessman. You can Google him if you like. He apparently developed a algorithm for betting on horse races and other stuff. He started a free museum of his "art" in 2001, but no one came to look at his collections. To remedy that, he closed it and began construction of a new museum by investing AUS$ 75 million in the new facility called MONA which opened in 2011. The facility sits on a peninsula in North Hobart surrounded by the Moorilla Vineyard (he owns that as well).

At the entrance to MONA, one is confronted with various exhibits, like a trampoline and a tennis court.

If you are ever in Tasmania, it is a must see, but plan to spend the day.
